“Building Amsterdam-Noord Together”

On Wednesday, June 10, representatives of resident initiatives, civil society organizations, and municipal partners gathered in Amsterdam-Noord for the networking and introductory meeting titled “Building Amsterdam-Noord Together.” The meeting was organized by the Participation Act Advisory Council and took place at Vrouwen aan het IJ.

The goal of the morning was to get to know each other better, share experiences, and reflect together on the meaning of participation in Amsterdam-Noord. The focus was on collaboration between formal organizations and informal resident initiatives.

During the meeting, participants engaged in discussions based on three current propositions. In an open and interactive setting, they shared opportunities, challenges, and practical experiences. The discussions made it clear that many organizations face similar issues, but also that there is a great deal of knowledge, commitment, and energy available to better support residents.

In addition to the Participation Act Advisory Council, representatives from Doras, the Noord district, De NoordAs, the community police officer, Stichting Hoop van Noord, Coöperatief Noord, and other volunteers and professionals were also in attendance. Stichting Samen-Sawa and Stichting Warm Welkom Amsterdam kicked off the meeting by sharing their real-life stories.

The event provided ample opportunity to make new connections and strengthen existing partnerships.

Those in attendance emphasized the importance of staying in touch, sharing information, and working together on issues related to employment, income, participation, and social support. Only through collaboration can organizations and community initiatives increase their impact on the residents of Amsterdam-Noord.

The Participation Act Advisory Council looks back on a successful meeting and thanks all attendees for their contributions. This morning’s discussions provide a valuable foundation for further collaboration and new initiatives in the district.
