The Amsterdam Participation Act Advisory Council is looking for members!
Do you live in Amsterdam and want to help improve policies for people covered by the Participation Act, so that they better reflect their living environment? Would you like to contribute ideas on how the municipality of Amsterdam can better support residents in the areas of work, income, and participation? Then becoming a member of the Participation Act Advisory Council might be something for you!
What does the Advisory Board do?
The Participation Act Advisory Council provides advice, both solicited and unsolicited, to the mayor and aldermen and to policymakers in the Department of Work, Participation, and Income.
Our goal is to ensure that the policies and implementation of the Participation Act reflect the daily realities and needs of the Amsterdammers affected by it.
We gather feedback and insights from the city and use them to advise the municipality on key issues such as income support and re-entry into the workforce.
The Participation Act Advisory Council consists of a minimum of six and a maximum of twelve members. Meetings are held at least once a month on Wednesday mornings. The meetings are chaired by an independent chairperson.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for members who are willing to dedicate a few hours a week to improving policies for people covered by the Participation Act.
Your responsibilities will include contributing to the content of solicited and unsolicited recommendations, gathering feedback from around the city, sharing experiences with organizations that serve the target group, and attending meetings.

What are we asking?
Someone who:
• Has experience with the Participation Act as a client, a representative of a client organization, or someone with relevant lived experience, expertise, or a connection to clients.
• Is socially conscious and wants to help people (or groups of people) in need
• Is interested in the Participation Act
• Willing to gather and share insights and feedback from the city
• is available for approximately 6 hours per week
Important information for applicants
If you have previously been a member of the Participation Council, are a member of another advisory council within the municipality of Amsterdam, or are directly involved in the implementation of the Participation Act, you cannot participate in the Participation Act Advisory Council.
